Pottstown, PA’s The Blue Elephant offers an instant escape, whether you’re a Philadelphia local looking for adventure just beyond the city limits or simply a traveling gourmand.

While the menu draws inspiration from multiple global culinary traditions, fusion is evident throughout. Inside an expansive reclaimed and restored bank, you’ll see design that juxtaposes classic and contemporary elements.

When curating their tabletop, it was important to have a mix of imperfect inspiration mixed with more polished porcelain. The Blue Elephant is the first restaurant in Pennsylvania to feature EARTH by Robert Gordon Australia, since we brought it stateside in early 2019. Earth’s organic shape and speckled finish are starkly contrasted against the cool asymmetry of Figgjo’s ELLIPSE bowls. Amefa’s Diplomate flatware in a vintage champagne finish frames these place settings while also highlighting the brass accents found throughout the dining room.

We’d never dissuade you from ordering a specialty cocktail, especially the signature color-changing “Blue Elephant,” but the restaurant’s stemware is truly striking. Their team selected the perfect all-purpose glass. CLIMATS by Nude Glass adds sleek structure to a tabletop that flows with modern, minimalist accents.

The Blue Elephant is helping breathe new life into a town once dominated by American industry, a small city that now hosts the steel-framed skeleton of a booming oil and steel town. The bank’s original vault remains intact and visible to guests from any point in the dining room. Large trees and light fixtures are placed with purpose, details we wish we saw more often. The piece de resistance? A full sized stone fountain that sits at the center of the restaurant. It makes sense once you uncover that Pearl Somboonsong, proprietor of Win Son Restaurants, carefully orchestrated the tabletop selections when planning for The Blue Elephant’s arrival in Pottstown.
